Probably the first and last time I’ll be allowed to post a pic of a bunny on here. So look, stop by today or Saturday if you need something because the shop is closed on Sunday. We ARE meeting at OCBC at 10 a.m. to go on our 2nd annual Easter Ride. It’s going to be 50 miles or so (exact route to come). Jeremy has volunteered to massage Butt’r or ButtonHole on the male riders seeking some sweet relief. Ride this and then you can eat all the crappy candy you want.

With the gas light on in my car, I stopped at the Valero on Sylvan at I-30 and was stunned to pay $4.09 a gallon! Wow! At least buy me dinner before you bend me over. Since we all know gas boycotts don’t work, here’s a realistic alternative to combat rising fuel prices: buy a bike instead. Here. We’ll take three commuters we can special order and show you that it pays to pedal. The inspiration for this post came from Bike Rumor’s pic of the day.

All pricing is based on my $4.09 per gallon experience and the average gas tank being 20 gallons (range: Mini Cooper to a small SUV). 20 Gallons x $4.09 = $81.80. So let’s do the math:

6 fill-ups = $490.80. Or a Bianchi Milano Parco at $499.

5.5 fill-ups = $449.90. Or a Kona Dew at $429.

5.5 fill-ups = $449.90. Or a Torker T-300 at $449.

The OCBC BikeMS team is raising money to ride from Frisco to Fort Worth April 30–May 1.

Join us for our Bike Bingo Adventure Race fundraiser on Sunday, April 3, from 12 to 2 at Eno’s. Show up and register at 12. Get your bike bingo card at 12:45. Ride to local Oak Cliff spots, look for clues, and text in the secret phrase. Be back by 2. Prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place winners. Minimum suggested donation to support our MS cause: $10 per rider. This is a family-friendly event. Linus Bikes: Simple, Chic, Affordable!

Popping wheelies is totally rad. But when it comes to choosing a bike for getting around town, tricks are for kids. With that in mind, consider Linus. We recently restocked the shop with several models: the Mixte and Roadster Classic.

Inspired by the elegant but basic designs of French city bikes of the ’50s and ’60s, Linus achieves the aesthetic of a modern vintage cycle: straight, clean lines, monochromatic colors and no excessive logos. It’s the perfect mix of a cruiser and commuter.

Probably the best thing about Linus, besides its good looks, is the extremely wallet-friendly price. An entry-level is only $409. It’d be hard to find a functioning secondhand bike on Craigslist for much less.

Holiday Light Ride Through Highland Park

OCBC is joining our DORBA pals for its annual Holiday Light Ride Through Highland Park. Allow for 2 hours to complete this ride that’s a little over 12 miles. Meet at 6:30 where the Katy Trail intersects with Knox Street. Don’t forget your helmets, lights, heating blankets, a tiny campfire, and anything else you want to stay safe and warm. Riding from East Dallas to the starting point? Meet Bill Christie at 5:15 at Whole Foods for a happy hour and be ready to leave at 5:45.

DOOM’s 4th Annual Kennedy Assassination Alleycat

Meet at Tietze Park this Saturday to bike or to volunteer to hangout and check in riders at one of the many stops on this “scavenger hunt.” Bring the $8 entry fee and a bag, too. Word on the street is that Arezow Doost will be riding this year! DOOM will be doling out prizes at the end of the race. Last year’s ride was a blast. This one promises to be the same. RSVP HERE.
